About Us

“My name is Joachim Milana. I was born and raised in Davao City. I am 29 years old. My parents are both doctors and business owners. I have two siblings and I’m the middle child. I graduated in a University in Davao City with a degree in business.

I started having an interest in boxing at the age of 7. Aside from that, I like different sports as well. At the age of 17, I started going to the gym and started training formal boxing and Muay Thai. It became one of my dreams to own a gym. After a decade of going to different gyms, I started to come up with an idea of putting up a gym with the vision of helping out more people live healthier lives and promote active lifestyle.”

Floor area is rectangular in shape and around 357 square feet in size. It is laid down with vinyl carpet tiles. Mirror is 6 feet in

height 16 feet in width. This area is where group classes such as Muay Thai, Circuit Training, and Zumba will be held. Other

varieties of classes will be added in the near future.

Group classes are a fun and effective way to motivate clients to work out. Everyone becomes more empowered and challenged to perform their best with an encouraging instructor and supportive people working hard together. In addition, these are wonderful opportunities for them to meet new friends and widen their social network. In the end, working out together in a group helps one achieve his or her specific goals faster than doing it alone.

Through group classes, we aspire to be able to build a community of like-minded people who are passionate about living a

healthy and well-rounded life. It is one of our mission to encourage everyone to strive for fitness at a holistic level – physical, mental and spiritual – one that goes beyond the excercise you get at a gym.

Punching Bags

 

The punching bag stand is made of fabricated I beams and is 7.5 feet in height. Hooked to it are 2 medium heavy bags, 1 large heavy bag, 1 uppercut bag and 2 double-end bags on each side. Each bag is filled with cloth clippings and saw dust which is surrounded by foam for a better feel when punching.

Heavy bag workout improves boxing technique, power, stamina and endurance, core stability and coordination, and mostly builds upper body strength. Double-end bag on the other hand, improves hand quickness, coordination and timing.

Our goal is to help clients improve not only their boxing skills and technique, but also to help them lose weight by doing

heavy bag workout, as this is said to burn more than 400 calories per hour. In addition to weight loss, hitting punching bags can enhance physique since this is a great workout for biceps, shoulders and back.

CALISTHENICS BAR

Our goal is to introduce and promote calisthenics as strength training for our clients who are not into weight lifting or those

who want to break away from their usual lifting routine. We would want them to be able to still work out even when at

home or on vacation. Our aim is for clients to develop the attitude of striving for overall fitness inside and outside the gym.

The calisthenics bar is made of fabricated stainless steel and stands 7.5 feet tall. It is composed of stall bars, monkey bars, a variety of pull-up bars, parallel bars, a straight bar and an inclined push-up bar.

Calisthenics comes from the greek word “Kalos” meaning beautiful and Sthenis meaning strength. It is a form of excercise performed using no added weight, and is usually known as body-weight training. Examples of calisthenics include, but are not limited to the following: pull-ups, push-ups, squats, dips, calf raise, hanging leg or knee raises, etc. Minimal equipment such as bars and rings may be used, and this type of excercise can be done anywhere, whether at a park, at the beach, or even at home.

Calisthenics is an effective way to build lean muscle while improving functional strength the type of strength needed in our daily activities. It is a good work out for both beginners and advanced athletes, as it is simple to start and easier to progress in. A calisthenics routine can help develop increased strength, flexibility and stamina.

This is where the instructors will conduct training sessions with their students through the use of focus mitts. This can help improve not only the student’s punching techniques, power, speed, endurance, timing, accuracy and footwork, but also his focus, sharpness and coordination.

The ring is also the area where students can do a sparring session with their coaches, or with each other, with full protection gears to prevent injuries and accidents.

Through this boxing ring, we hope to be able to host amateur boxing fights where the students can showcase their learnings. This will be a good avenue for them to experience what it actually feels like to be in the four corners of a boxing match.

We would also want for well-known boxing personalities to visit our gym and train in this boxing ring. That way, we can inspire more students to embrace the sport.
